Our Engagement Photos: Pamela and Luke

June 29, 2012

We recently had our engagement photos taken by the amazing Lindsey Freitas of Bellalu Photographysee them here on their blog!

We cannot thank her enough for taking the time to shoot our photos, as we are all busy getting ready for the wedding season. Thanks to Monina Wright of Moderne Beauty for her talent with makeup and hair! We had such a great time with them, and being in front of the camera again (as opposed to always behind the lens) was refreshing and fun! Luke and I realized that we don't quite take enough pictures of us together, and were excited to have some newer and current photos of us. These were taken at Clos La Chance winery in San Martin, great wines and beautiful views. Luke and I enjoyed some wine on the terrace afterwards. Thank you Lindsey you're the best!!

Engagement sessions: Ron Grandia

May 21, 2010

Ron Grandia, a Phenomenal DJ Posted a great post on his blog about how engagement sessions can be very important.  He posted one of my videos as well.  His words on engagement sessions: "Do it".  Thanks Ron.  As a lot of you know, I LOVE shooting them, they give me the chance to connect with my clients.

Japan.

February 11, 2010

Japan was quite an adventure.  I didn't take the time to blog while in Japan as my internet access was limited.

My first night, we stayed in a capsule hotel.  It was pretty interesting, I am extremely supprised that these don`t exist in the US.

The Japanese culture absolutely fascinates me.  I had some of the best food I have ever tasted.

To round it up, some of the things I tasted;

-Chicken Sashimi (raw chicken)  My friend Aya took me to an amazing chicken restaurant.  Raw chicken has an amazing texture, similar to Maguro (tuna).
-Octopus, squid,
-Traditional Japanese breakfast; raw egg, nato (fermented soybeans), over rice.
-Beef sashimi (and a few other raw red meats I wont mention)
-Tons of curry (infinately delicious).
-Fish.  Sushi.  Sashimi. and more fish.  We visited a fish restaraunt where the owner had worked as a fisherman for decades.  He had great connections to get excellent fish.  I must have ate ten different parts/kinds of fish in that restaraunt alone.

I will be posting more photos and explaining a few things we did in detail.  I believe I may have actually shot more video than photos!  Kind of crazy.  I am SO jetlagged, so It may take me a couple days to start feeling normal again.

I plan to attempt to learn more Japanese over the next year and return to visit again.  Thanks a ton to my cousin Nate who showed me everything there was to see, and got me there.

A still life from the chicken restaurant.
One night we stayed in a great suite after a poker game with my cousins friends (view from the balcony pictured at night and morning).

Always chasing pretty light.
My cousin Nathan, myself and my cousin Mike
Chicken Sashimi, wonderful.

TOKYO!

January 18, 2010

In less than a week, I'll be flying to Tokyo Japan.  I've dreamed about going to Japan since I was about 5 years old.  I absolutely can't wait!  If anyone has heard anything specific I should see while I'm there, let me know.  Packing tips?  I found a fantastic small-ish camera backpack to use as a day pack while i'm there.

I'm going to take a bajillion (that's a word right?) photos while i'm there, and a bunch of HD video.

...I'm kind of obsessive about packing...I keep packing, then rethinking what I'm bringing....

"Trash and Progress" Wrapped!

February 28, 2009

Today was the last day of the "Trash and Progress" feature film.  I didn't get to tag along for the whole production, but I enjoyed working with this crew.  More photos here.

It's been crazy trying to catch up and recover after WPPI.  There is truly a massive amount of information to process and apply.  This season is getting exciting.  More on my super-8mm project soon!

Photo shoot from two weeks ago.

February 25, 2009

Right before WPPI I shot with Jessica Fisher, utilizing the costuming from the feature film she is shooting.  Thanks everyone for helping out.

"Trash and Progress" Progress...

February 02, 2009

We shot another night on "Trash and Progress.  We shot at Know Knew Books in Palo Alto until about 4:00AM.  I (literally) fell asleep at the end of the night.

"Trash and Progress"

January 20, 2009

"Trash and Progress" is a feature film directed by Abraham Dieckman with Director of Photography Jessica Fisher.  I'm shooting some production stills for the last part of the shooting.  The project is a post-apocalyptic science fiction film.  You can view the whole event on my Picasa web album here.  More to come!

Photography in the Boundary waters.

August 19, 2008

Here are a few quick sample images from my Canoe trip.  I tried to treat the trip as a serious photography expedition however I found myself very much enjoying time away from technology.  I shot almost the whole trip without looking at the screen on my camera, it often reminded me of shooting film.

Been too long...

August 12, 2008

It has been far to long since my last post.  I had more computer issues recently, now resolved.  I returned back to California from my trip to Minnesota about a week and a half ago.  I'm currently going through several thousand photos I shot on the trip.

More later.

Sunsets in northern Minnesota are beautiful.
